Russian Rapes-Revealing Dresses Responsible-Church Chides!

ANOTHER SLAP ON  A WOMAN'S FACE!

January 18,2011,saw a furore within Russian confines , when more than 700 feminists signed a petition to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church,Patriarch Kirill, demanding he denounce the MOST OBJECTIONABLE STATEMENT EVER MADE!

Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, the head of the Orthodox Church's  department for relations between church and society, complained that ,"A Russian Woman dresses like strippers" and suggested a nationwide dress code should be introduced to ensure both sexes dress in a conservative manner.(Interfax News Agency)

"A drunk woman, wearing provocative dress becomes even more provocative and vulnerable , inviting rapes as such situations lead her to befriend wrong people"," And then she is surprised when the contact ends in rape",he further stated.

Again on a stricter  and a jeering note he added, some Russian Women confused the streets as STRIP TEASE CLUB AND DRESSED LIKE PROSTITUTES WITH OBNOXIOUS PAINTS ON THEIR FACES.According to him, such women will certainly not find life partners.

Here I just want to intervene....if we look at the most respectable Indian Costume,it is also to some extent "revealing"...So how exactly a dress for women be decided? And who will decide? The Religious Caretakers ?

Going through all such news splurged over the newspapers and the like,it made me to think on , the situation of women i.e., it is by and large the same all over the world. No doubt counseling is welcomed but the big question is, "Why Always Women?'

Though I have no right to comment on any religious statements but exercising my "freedom of speech and expression", given to me by my Nation ,I would certainly ask those releasing such statements,"Why women are always their targets?""What rules have they made for THE RAPISTS?""Why there is no such Public Statement for those committing such crimes?""If they claim, they have made statements against such heinous animals, I am sorry to say we have not heard and hence they should ascertain that their other rules "against humanity", if made should be equally hyped.

So one thing is clear whether it is India,U.K.,Pakistan,Russia or any other country the situation is more or less the same.If we do not let women live in peace and respect their existence, the situation will get worse and there would be more "Soumya Ranganathan," killed in Road Rages, with Chief Ministers like Sheila Dixit ,blaming the girl to be on road at 3a.m, although she was returning from her work...OR Taslima Nasreen of Bangladesh suffering "futwa", by the Religious Fanatics for her acclaimed novel "Lajja".Hence, let us for a while sit back and think..."WHY ONLY WOMEN???"...........

a highly debatable topic, and why always women??? well , pretty lady....logic is very simple....the nature always hits those who are vulnerable..Darwins theory of nature u knw....sufferers are always the weaker section of the nature..be it anywhere round the corner of Earth.....
dont took me wrong if m assuming women as the weaker section in human society....this is nt my view bt this is what nature law suggest us (and i really dont think so...)....bt again its the debatable one....
and one priest can never decide the dress code for humans.....he is nt the god....
and talking about the Indian dresses...well they are highly respectable...bt u knw....one cant do anything if u try and mold/modify ur trend....... a backless blouse is the fine example of this type of modification...
agrees with the priest in most points...apart from the dress code one...
nice blog...

Thanks ajit again for your valuable comment.Everything you wrote is true, except the "saree modification one".If delve into hindu mythology, you will find the princess ,the women of the royal families and even the "dasis" supported not backless but strapless blouses! This however i do not advocate shld be continued as Men hv gone animals but display beauty in aesthetic sense is not at all bad,o for one's comfort level!
Nature has given immense strength to women(men can not give birth to young ones-this signifies even gods thought that women ONLY can bear this pain) and she is no way "weaker section"-selfish men hv made us to think so...she is the beautiful one n looked down upon as she bears babies, keeps at home for their sake..so mostly can not go out to work!crime is committed on men too and they are killed or murdered-are they weak?

But thanks once again for reading!

well i nvr advocated abt men or women and who has got wt power....both are creation of god nd both hv diffrent diffrent capability.....nd both are equally imp...
nd talikng abt the princess.....c'mon...theyy were even nt allowed to comee into real world...i mean if one got a glimpse of princess nd he is dead...nd here today gals are coming out in so much revealing dressses...u can find many in mtero train or ny big malll....i mean men has nt become animal as u started blving in bt u knw everyone has some controlling limits...i can control myself..bt wt abt those who r insane/psyco/powerfull nd blah blah...it is better for everyone....men women animal nd everything even my laptop., TO BE IN CONTROL AND LIMITS....
nd moreover progress brings crime...this is sour fact

Hi Rashmi Singh,

I agree with what you have written.

It is not just girls. Boys are equally vulnerable. It is extremely , awfully difficult for a rape victim to salvage her/his life whatever be the counselling offered. Society is incredibly bereft of empathy.

Since prevention is always better than cure , it is in a woman's interest to dress decently.
