Gunday Review

After 'Mumbai' being stalked and looted by Dons, the Producer and Director has thought of changing the locale- so now it is Calcutta!

#GUNDAY #REVIEW! it's a concoction of all the earlier movies of #AmitabhBachhan!! #ArjunKapoor needs polishing of acting skills- he's supposed to be #THEANGRYYOUNGMAN but doesn't quite succeed. #RanvirSingh has improved his expressions but can't improve or increase his height!! tch! tch! #RanvirSingh though has flaunted his abs wildly!! #PriyankaChopra has managed well but comes after an hour. She in all scenes- even in hospital is at her sexiest best (purring in sexy voice....) -A versatile Police Inspector with a figure of 'Miss India', who puts all cabaret dancer wondering at their skills...if they are any good after all!! Loved her 'dhakai' sarees with backless stringed blouses though such blouses have been never worn by any Bengali woman in '70's!! #IrrfanKhan as usual is brilliant and his real self!

Except one song '#TuneMaariEntriyaan' no song is catchy as such but falls in the 'nice category'. The #film overall with crisp editing can be seen once and enjoyed- no headache as such! #RashmiSingh

The Ultimate Bond!

Amidst speculations and spectacular media coverage of Sunanda Pushakar's death, one thing has clearly come to forefront- she was a woman of millions! Everyone has a part of demon in him or her. Who is so clear, who has taken birth on this planet? The evil drops are there in everyone- it maybe just few drops or maybe in form of oceans, But it is certainly there! Admit or run away but can't deny it in your silence.

Being a human, means you are being evil at some point of your life. Being humane means your are trying to do away with the demons of your lives! You give alms to get alms...

Agree or do not agree to my words and my thoughts but you'll have to agree that Sunanda was a doting mother, who never hid her son for her glamor sake- who never ever for a moment dreamed of living without her only child borne by her second husband Sujit Menon who died in an accident in 1997 when Shiv Menon her son was only 4. Since then Sunanda has been both a mother and a father to her son who wants to make big someday in Bollywood.

So all this shit about Sunanda wanting her freedom or rather is a free spirit is a garbage bag of sick minds as she could have never ever have wanted to be free of her son. May this mother sees her son's dreams come live one day!

The Charmers!

Signs of Charmers:
1. They are stinking rich (actually may not be but pretend to be one).   2. Well read, glib talker and an eloquent speaker. 3. Mesmerizing voice. 4.Well dressed according to the occasion and extremely well behaved to ladies

Recently on Sunanda Pushkar's death, some one tweeted, celebrities suffer depression because they are stinking rich and have no other thing to invest into, so they start investing in something as 'depression.' If their stomachs were not filled, they would be thankfully away from being depressed!

Why the underprivileged die of known diseases than dying with something vague as depression. Recently it was tremendously faced by Angelina Jolie. These celebrities die in 5 star hotels. My full respect and sympathies  to Pushkar but I am bound to ponder about this fact. You can die of stress but not of depression as students sometimes commit suicide after failing to secure well in exams.

The post mortem results still has to come but the tweets made by Sunanda can not be said to be of good taste! She was having problems with her marriage due to Mehr Trar, a Pakistani jurno- true but she was knowing that she was no 'Miss Nobody.' Even if Shobha De believes that she was always a 'Pushkar' but her name had a 'Tharoor' too! This is the rule of the Patriarchal society. Why Shobha too has a 'De' in her name though being so heavily independent. She is not carrying a 'Rajadhakhshya!'   De believes finally she is set free. But had she really wanted to be free?

For Pushkar, this 'Tharoor' business was too cumbersome to carry. Maybe she wanted to open up some hidden secrets, maybe she wasn't happy, maybe she killed herself, maybe she was escalated to suicide or maybe she was after all murdered! But one thing is clear as crystal, 'Tharoor' was too  heavy a name for a 'Pushkar' to carry! Before being bound to it, she should have weighed the pros and cons as she has been continuously wading in riches and tasting flavors of super high society!

My serious advise to all women- stay away from all the Charmers- married or unmarried!

Rashmi.
 P.S. some views:

"Indicating the argument on January 16 night may have turned violent, doctors who conducted the autopsy on Saturday on Sunanda said she had injury marks on her body. But doctors are yet to officially state the nature of injuries." http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2014-01-19/india/46346102_1_sunanda-pushkar-shashi-tharoor-delhi-airport
"Rohit Kochhar, who works with a Dubai-based law firm, said, "We spoke last on January 14. I called her from Dubai. She was in a Trivandrum hospital for some tests. She had been diagnosed with tuberculosis of the liver. She was put on new medicines, to which her body was not used. She was hardly eating."
Sunanda suffered from Lupus -- an autoimmune disease that attacks healthy tissues -- and often spoke of a "sinking feeling". "When she was unwell she couldn't eat. But when she was hungry she could eat like a horse," said her friend Sridevi Badiga, who runs a financial services company in Dubai.
Sunanda was in Goa from December 28 to January 3 with Badiga. "We shared the same room in Goa except one day — on New Year's eve — when Shashi (Tharoor) joined us. Often, we couldn't go out as she would be ill and unable to get out of bed," said Badiga." http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Sunanda-Pushkar-was-extremely-unwell-say-close-friends/articleshow/29073962.cms

TT Epaper
The Telegraph
TT Photogallery

Her pen does the talking

From being a soft-skill and personality development trainer to becoming an author — how did
 it all happen?
Writing has always been my first love. In fact, my blogs — Riviera and Lost Tranquility — depict my
passion for writing. When I got married, I stopped planning my life, as things didn’t work out the
way I wanted. But when I didn’t plan, I just found things falling into place. I was barely a graduate
when I got married and was clueless about how I could establish myself professionally. However, luck
favoured me and I became a teacher and taught at many prestigious schools across India. While
teaching in schools, I was constantly counseling the students. Hence I developed an acute sense
of analysing different individuals. This way, from counseling, I took to personality development training.
But writing didn’t leave my side. It was like my best friend, who always stayed by me in my ups and downs
. I wrote my feelings continuously in my diaries and eventually it transformed into books.
Are the characters in your book inspired by the people you have met?
Well, honestly they are most of the time. I study and relate to people and everything around me,
including animals, very easily and quickly. Sometimes, articles in newspapers or magazines too
influence my writing. Pain, pleasure, joy, fear and all other emotions experienced by a person
come alive in my novels. Probably, this is why critics praise the portrayal of the characters in my fiction.
Tell us about your books Back to School@30, Taming the Restless Mind, Love’s Journey
 and The Fallen Love.
Back to School@30 is a self-help book for people in 30s and beyond. This book is meant to help a
person organise and manage one’s relationships. Taming the Restless Mind is also a self-help book
for the youth and their fears and problems, like sexual myths, dating, divorce, pay packages,
emotional stability and others. Love’s Journey and The Fallen Love are fiction. Love’s Journey is
my debut book and very close to my heart. It is a story of Christian girl, who loses her parents in a
communal riot. She undergoes the trials of destiny in the form of four lovers, who teach her
different meanings of love. She becomes an unwed mother and finally makes it big in the film industry.
The Fallen Love revolves around the veiled crimes in our society. Critics found it fast-paced and
interesting, but the depiction of sex life of a character didn’t go down well with some… but this is my style.
Tell us a bit about your school and college days in Patna.
I was in Notre Dame Academy from preparatory till Class VII. It was not just a school, it was like a
family to me. Every sister and teacher was responsible in grooming me and nurturing my outlook towards
life. Since I stayed close to the school, I have lot of happy memories that I cherish till date. Whether it was
taking part in one-act plays, school fete to other extracurricular activities, they helped me become what
I am today. NDA personifies Keats’ poem, ‘A thing of beauty is a joy forever, it never passes into
nothingness’. I passed my ICSE from Loreto Convent, Ranchi, and here I blossomed as an excellent
speaker as I won the best speaker award from the Ram Krishna Mission Society consecutively for three
years. I did my graduation from Patna Women’s College (Avila Convent). Marriage saw break in my
studies, but I did my CTE, MA, MBA afterwards. It has been a real tough journey, but as they say
where there is a will there is a way! (smiles)
Who are the writers you love reading? Whom do you consider the most promising among the
 contemporary writers?
I love reading Jane Austen, Arthur Hailey, Sidney Sheldon and Danielle Steele. Among Indian writers
and poets, I have read Rabindranath Tagore, Premchand, Shivani, Amrita Pritam, Dinkar,
Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Gandhi, Nehru and many more. Among contemporary writers I
find Chitra Bannerjee Devakaruni as one of the most promising Indian writer. She has a very gripping
style of narration.
What challenges did you face while writing?
Challenges are in every field. Without challenges, I feel achievements hold no meaning. Being a woman
writer, I am very bold in my depiction of characters and don’t compromise on it. At first, I was a little
scared, how my
friends and family would react. But after reading, all hailed my style of writing. The next big challenge was
to find a  publisher (phew!), especially for a fiction! I was initially laughed at for entering the literary scene late,
but now my success has made my critics dumb! But over all I feel, a woman faces challenges throughout her life.
How has been the readers’ response?
It has been overwhelming! Everyday, I get many fan mails and messages on Facebook praising my
writing and asking how I have become so popular within such a short span of time. I am really thankful
to God for this and also my readers, who love and criticise me at the same time. The readers of Bihar
and UP are extremely elated that a ‘saleable’ woman writer from their area, who writes in English, has
arrived on the literary scene.
Your books are based on relationships. Do you feel relationships are becoming flimsy these days?
I do. My book Taming the Restless Mind deals with similar problems. Materialistic approach has taken the
front seat and emotions are dying. Internet has made life easier, but has made relationships complicated.
Youth these days, even before reaching their 20s have almost 20 break ups. Consequently, this affects their
 marital lives later.
Was your family supportive when you decided to write? Do you feel early marriage is a
hindrance to a girl’s career aspirations?
Despite having a rich legacy in writing, no one in my family had thought that one day I would become a
writer, except my father. My great grandfather had written Rasik Manoranjan, but a girl from our family
writing was not expected! My husband had made it clear to me from the very beginning that he had
not married a ‘working woman’. He told me that all I have to do is look good and take care of my family.
But with passage of time, he realised that talent could not be hidden and he let me do what I wanted.
My children are very encouraging and feel proud of me. However, the unconditional support of
my sister-in-law and brother and the determination that my late mother inculcated in me made me a writer.
Otherwise till now I would have been just writing diaries. (Laughs). I want to tell all parents not to get
their daughters married early and curb their talents. Not everyone can fight with destiny as I have done.
Let them grow and spread their charm around. Early marriage can in fact create more problems.
When publishers reject your book do you feel let down?
Well obviously! It is very disheartening. But then I give a ‘pat’ on my back say ‘It’s alright Rashmi, failures
are the pillars to success’. I heard that many renowned authors too had been rejected umpteenth time!
I take inspiration from them and surge ahead again with more vigour! I know many good publishers
who are open to my non-fictions, but don’t want to publish a fiction. After Love’s Journey I had a
tough time finding a publisher, but Pigeon Books has always been open to all my fictions.
Do you believe in “formula” writing (award-winning and bestseller books) that will earn you
 more fame?
No, if this had been the criterion then I would not have turned down a lucrative offer to write a ‘masala book’!
The Fallen Love had lot of a lot of sleaze, which according to me is the depiction of crude truth of our society.
However, on the basis of this, some publishers thought they could ask me to pen down sensational books,
but when they approached me I refused. I want to get my name engraved in the minds of the readers as
genuine writer and not as one of disgraceful books.
As a Bihari were you ever looked down upon? Do you want to base any novel on Bihar?
I have been never looked down upon as such, and I am grateful to my parents for this as they gave me the
best possible education available then. But yes, I have heard this, “Do you really belong to Bihar?
You neither look, nor behave or speak like them?” At that time, I just wanted to scratch their face
(humanly feeling!) but controlled my temper. I wasn’t able to understand why there was so much antagonism?
Biharis are looked down upon in Mumbai. We forget we are Indians at large!
We fight on petty issues of being Bihari, Gujarati,
Punjabi and overlook serious problems of our society. Yes, I do want to base my novel on Bihar. Both my
fictions have incidents and scenes from Bihar. In fact, protagonists in both the novels — Jennifer Sebastian
and Rohan Dixit — belong to Bihar.
Your life must have changed in more ways than one with your fingers in many pies? How do
you juggle work and personal life?
Well, my life has changed for sure. But I believe that if a person wants he or she can achieve anything.
Coaching takes half of my time and I do freelance training as well. I write during the night and the break
I get between my two jobs. Obviously, I have to look after home and children and I become tensed at times.
But I try to maintain my cool. I am a very organised and plan my day-to-day routine. So, I don’t have
much time for friends. My life revolves around my work and my family.
What is the piece of advice you want to give to upcoming writers?
Please don’t resort to a spicy and eye-popping recipe to get instant success. I also advise them to listen to
their heart while writing and not the mind. I say this because mind is very practical and heart has feelings, which is important for being a genuine writer.
What are your future projects? Do you want to script for films as well?
My next book is a historical fiction, based on a dancer of Chalukyan King Pulkasein II’s era
(610AD-643AD). This is a very intense fiction, which is again based on relationships and emotions
 like infatuation, love, treachery,
conquests, wars, lust, acquisition, hate and finally repentance. This story is very close to my heart and I
have done a lot of research. It takes you to a whirlwind tour of events of a forgotten girl’s life and her
relationship with a king. I am open to everything. I believe ‘One’s script is already written by
‘Him’’ who is sitting up there. If scripting for films has to come my way, it will definitely come.
Otherwise I will always try to carve out something new!

But They Are Just Juveniles… Juvenile Animals! by Rashmi Singh

But They Are Just Juveniles… Juvenile Animals! by Rashmi Singh

“MIND OF A MAN is always active and fabricating
something. Even in its hibernation, it creates imaginative
zones, arenas where it ventures whenever it has time or
will to do so” Taming the Restless Mind.
Juvenile-Justice-Act in IndiaSo many thoughts are invading my mind these days. I have been also blamed for thinking from a woman’s point of view- fighting only for a woman’s cause. But I would let all to know, I am not a Feminist. In my fiction, ‘The Fallen Love’, I fought for the protagonist Rohan Dixit. All I want to say, I can’t tutor my heart. It is my heart which decides, which way I have to sail- it is my heart which feels the pain and associates itself with pain of the masses. And these days my mind and heart both have decided not to be practical.
There are so many areas to be ventured into, but my poor desolate mind gets stationed at one point-I am not able to forget the barbarous act of the Delhi Gang Rape. Though I know this that ‘it’ is not the only heinous incident happening around us as everyday news of revolting, abhorrent, unspeakable sexual abuse on small children, especially girls are being reported. I am then made to think that these children were too small to wear any provocative dress then why they were brutally assaulted? I am not able to retrieve my numb senses which are somewhere lost in the mass pain of all the mothers beating their breasts and lamenting, waiting for justice which has lost its path in the foggy, gloomy road of offensive selfishness.
When justice in the Delhi Gang Rape is moving at snail’s speed even with the entire country coming forward in unison to protest against the apathy of administration, Government and people on road, then how can we expect that a child being murdered and sexually assaulted in a remote corner of any remote village gets her/his justice? How can we expect the child’s mother to breathe a single sigh of relief and believe that though her child, quartered by the fangs of animals hidden in our society, has meted with fair judgment and the culprit animals have been chained and lashed publicly! But if a proposal of such kind is made i.e. to publicly hang the culprits, then the Spokesperson of Human Rights would float on the scene, saying ‘if they are animals, we can’t become one!’ Okay then sit back in the comfort zones of your home and watch your children being snatched by the demons. Don’t kill these inhuman wretches. Fight for the ‘Human Rights’ of ‘Animals’. Try to make them human and while trying to do so let the ‘so called civilized jungle of humans’ breed more such animals to devour the innocents.
By deeds such culprits are hard core animals but when the time of justice comes, they are either ‘A Juvenile’ or ‘A Human’ who can’t be punished in full view of public. In fact they can’t be even given the punishment which they deserve due to their criminal pervert acts as they are juvenile!
We all expect a mother to brave the words of her dying daughter. The brave daughter  told her how the juvenile animal had inserted and pushed a rod into her up till her ribs, yanking it out with her intestines, lecherously shouting ‘mar saali’! This mother only wants justice, no money, nothing else! This mother’s mind fails to understand that how can a person doing such deed be a child?? She asks us all this question and huddles under old blanket in a cot. But we are humans and we have to behave like one! And even if animals rape and kill our children, the law expects us to be patient, calm and behave like humans and lets the Juveniles behave like animals!
Rashmi Singh AuthorWe all know that law can be changed but only if those in power want to change…. The discussion is going on… The talks are going on… We are just silent Spectators, waiting and watching. Watching when breaths of all the grieving mothers would come to halt….with justice…or with long wait laced with injustice becoming their graves….

LOVE IN FULL FORCE:THE FALLEN LOVE!

“Rohan,” It seemed to Rohan that Radhika had called him. But the boulder had finally started moving like a cunning, stealthy treacherous enemy, hitting Rohan who came in its way, rolling down the valley and after that the car. Suddenly from nowhere four-five men came and dragged him back, heartlessly….Everything was happening right there in front of him, everything and a helpless Rohan, in clutches of unknown men, was made to watch the car along with Radhika, dive deep into the dangerous valley of death. Everything finished before his eyes….once again he lost to life…once again fate won for the worst and he lost….. Rohan fell unconscious and limp in the arms of the men holding him tight…..
With one hand Rohan had closed her mouth and with the other he twisted her both arms, bringing it to her back murderously. Rita tried her best to press the Emergency bell with her legs but Rohan was quick in apprehending her motives and pulled her back towards to the other side of the room. The needle of his right hand was displaced making blood to rush out heedlessly.
“Now you tell me, if you want yourself to be alive....

The-ways-of-seeing-challenging-the-stereotypes-of-masculinity-study-of-the-female-novelists-in-india by Varsha Singh

All these novelists are recognized as intellectuals, portraying feminine sensibility and female agony present in our society; and they have been highly felicitous in their endeavours . But the way in which the characters of their novels are looked upon, is the patriarchal gaze. In their novels, the male characters are portrayed as the most powerful, dominating and completely autonomous one; whereas the female characters are portrayed as, the meek, submissive, dominant and weak, seized under the clutch of male subjugation.
Contradicting this situation, the novelists such as, Shobha De, Varsha Dixit, Sujata Parashar, Advaita Kala, Rashmi Singh, Ruchita Misra are on the pathway of reverting the ways of seeing and challenging the stereotypes of masculinity.

Interview With Rashmi Singh

http://www.bookchums.com/blog-details.php?blogId=MzUz

interview With Rashmi Singh
Post by: Sonia Safri
Love’s Journey is the debut novel of Rashmi Singh, a freelance Personality Development and Soft Skills Trainer at Faridabad.
From talking about her personal and professional life to her take on love, Rashmi gives us an insight on present day society woes and much more. Read on.

Tell us a bit about your professional background. How did you steer towards becoming a Personality Development and Soft Skills Trainer?
I had been quite active during my school/college days- Taking part in Painting, Elocution, Drama, Creative Writing Competitions (both in Hindi and English, winning prizes for Elocution/Recitation from RamaKrishna Pramhansa Society, Ranchi, second prize in dramatics, in B.H.U-.I.T. and from diff. prestigious platforms) and other co curricular activities saw a growth in my Personality.  I was very good academically (except Math-ooops!), winning Best Class Citizen Award consecutively for 2yrs in school. My life could not be perceived without these!!!
I connected well with my friends without having ideas that I was better than others or others were better than me....though I wasn't the partying type. My ability (God Gifted) to connect with friends made me the elected Joint Sec., of my college though just after graduation I got married.

Marriage came with so many other regular responsibilities which weren't easy to shoulder so my studies saw a break. But I am thankful to my very good schooling (Notre Dame Academy, Patna and Loreto Convent, Ranchi) that  I got a chance to teach English in a school where my child had taken admission-thence my journey started. Along with teaching, I carried on with my educational pursuits and finally did M.A., M.B.A., C.T.E. In schools I was generally asked by the Principal to counsel students and parents and this idea came up in my mind to hone and polish the personality of others with my own experiences of life-So about 12 years back, I quit schools and started as a Freelance  Personality Dev. and Soft Skills Trainer.

What is the one thing that you think is quite important when it comes to communication skills and personality development?
It is confidence coupled with being well-informed. If you have confidence and correct information of things for which a person needs extensive reading, then his/her language defects, dressing sense, etc. could be easily covered up. But not over- confidence- this leads to miscommunication.

Would you like to share with our reader, your earliest memories of writing?
Yes, why not!
Like I mentioned, Creative Writing came to me naturally, I was always into a flight of fancy in my imaginary world. I watched people, their mannerisms very intently. Why people-I even watched animals..clouds..flowers.. My poems and write ups were published in college magazines and local dailies but at that time we didn't have much opportunities. Moreover I belonged  to a conservative Rajput family, though was provided with the best of education but all these were mainly done with one objective-marriage. But the writer in me often fought with the woman in me and I kept on writing in my diaries continually. I have 2 blogs Riviera and Lost Tranquility in the Asia Section of an International website.
But recently these blogs have become a scapegoat of the rules of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting- the write ups are there but the illustration in the form of pictures have been blocked. But this has not deterred me. Actually I am more energized now.

You get to meet a lot many people every day, given your line of work. Did that in any way trigger you to write a story/novel? As in, what brought about the ideation of “Love’s Journey”?

Yes, I meet many. There are  many married men/ women who are leading an unhappy life. Though they profess, they  love their spouses but actually are not happy. Many want to get out of their wedlock  but have certain fears!

And above all the YOUNGSTERS. The no. of jilted lovers are increasing by leaps and bounds these days!!! Progress has come with increased no. of suicides.

Sleeping with one and then moving around with others. Though in such cases often the males do not have any qualms but the females  to a great extent are traumatized. Though while narrating their stories, they try to hide their physical relationship but their restlessness and eyes tell all!!!
So I took a backdrop of Bollywood and wrote about the feelings of a woman who has to overcome hurdles of life and I think being a Counselor has helped me a lot in etching the characters.

How would you define “love”?
Love is something which cannot be defined or measured!
It is just a feeling. It rises above physical appearance and mental make up. According to me love is something when you understand a person-give him/her space. Sex is obviously there but in couples where this becomes primary, love cannot stand even a single negative onslaught. Like in Love's Journey Jennifer falls in love four times... but with Shambhu her love was a platonic and the most strongly bonded one. She knew she was crushing her desires, then too she wasn't at all feeling bad because the kind of selfless love Shambhu was showering on her was never experienced by her before. And with Shantanu she thought after all she had found the love of her life with her body physically craving for him but eventually it sucked her into a vacuum!!!

Who, according to you, is the epitome of love in your life?
From renowned and known figures, it is Radha- I think Radha, Krishna's beloved is the epitome of love. She never demanded anything from him...She was married but had the courage million years ago to admit this. And nobody knows what became of her when Krishna left her. It is said Krishna gave her a place along with him to be worshipped but there is no mention of the fact, that where she went..what she did.
Wasn't this Krishna's responsibility to see what became of his beloved?  Radha had the courage to let the world know she loved Krishna.

How was the experience of having authored a book? Have things changed in anyway? Did you face any apathy from publishers or agents in the publishing industry?
It was great! First time people could know about me-my ability to feel things around me and l
gave them 'language' And I for the first time could really let out my feelings to the world. Monetarily it hasn't changed but fame wise it has!! People now relate to me. As a Personality Development Trainer, I could reach out to a limited people but now I am able to reach the masses!

Pustak Mahal People are very good and extremely co operative to me and hence far I have interacted with them only. I have no agents. I do my own Liaison. But many of my friends with finished work are facing apathy from agents and Publishers. I can't name them as this may hamper their hard work

What’s your take on the sudden rise in the number of new young authors?
It is really nice to see that now so many young people are  getting their desired platform.

What’s your favorite genre? Name some of your favorite authors and books.
Recently I read 'The Palace of Illusions' by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni-It's really gripping.
Paulo Coelho's 'Veronica decides to die' is also thought provoking.
There's nothing like my favourite Genre. I read anything which attracts my attention.

What next do we read from your desk?
Oh Sure! Taming The Restless Mind is a very sincere and honest effort from my side to guide people across the world! I know many would be scandalized to see a woman dealing with topics which is considered a taboo in our society-but then someone has to! Topics like confidence development/communication skill is obviously there but topics like Peer Pressure, Job Stress, Dating, Drugs, Internet Porn Addiction, Nudity, Bed Buddies, Sexual Myths and Facts are also there. So you can say it is a complete package to tame restless minds!
Though a non fiction, it is  written in a narrative style. The chapters are gripping with solutions provided to the best of my belief and faith.

Rashmi certainly has shown a knack for plotting a good story and etching relatable characters. We now look forward to reading her latest non-fictional offering.

If you wish to ask the author a question, smply post it in the comment box below.

Book Summary of Taming The Restless Mind

I’m only human, I’m just a woman man
Help me believe in what I could be
And all that I am
Show me the stairway I have to climb
Lord for my sake teach me to take
One day at a time

This book aims to be the philosopher’s stone—turning our base natures into hearts of gold, our impracticalities into reason and the vast dead span of life into a blooming utopia of dreams. The author proves to be a counselor and healer for parents, teenagers, young adults and also provides a solution to the tumultuous life of people facing their ‘midlife crises’.

Young adults often laugh away at their world and escape that world in flights of fancy but has anyone felt the pain in their eyes? The author lays bare the current trends and enduring characteristics of young adults in the most lucid style with interesting pictures and examples to support. These offer a tremendous springboard to discuss larger issues relating to the youth and adult mind.

P.S.

MY MIND TOO WAS RESTLESS:

Whatever little bit I have achieved, I am sincerely thankful to the adverse conditions of my life. At times, It had become difficult for me to even walk or talk, lest help others to do so, including my children. Earning and gaining higher qualification was but only a far fetched dream, which could have never been achieved. But now after decades, I have realised, that we  face negative situations, so that we can try hard and make ways for us.

Perhaps if everything had gone right for me, I would never have reached the place where I am today! I do not boast that I have achieved something dazzling but yes I do have achieved my inner satisfaction coupled with educational background. In my journey, I came across many people, some appeared to be foes-jealous without reasons or maybe because of my capacity to spring back again, some were acquaintances, some who professed to be friends but vanished when I needed them, giving unbearable  pain and some real good friends, encouraging me always. But all made me to realize that no one stays with you always except your self belief and faith!

MONEY IS VERY IMPORTANT-I REALISED THIS TOO and strove hard  to achieve it. SELF INDEPENDENCE IS NECESSARY TO HAVE SELF EGO BUT  NOT IN LOVE...BUT still I would advise everyone to stand on your own feet because situations can change in minutes and I HAVE FACED SITUATIONS WHICH CAN LEAVE EVERYONE COLD NUMB BUT I TRIED HARD AND MADE THE ICE TO THAW BUT STILL IT HAS NOT COMPLETELY MELTED INTO BEAUTIFUL WAVES.....

YOUTH AND THEIR LIVES

YOUTH AND THEIR LIVES

PRESSURE TO EXCELL- A TRAUMATIC LIFE PHENOMENON
As a Personality Development Trainer and Counsellor, I have been approached by people of various segments  of society undergoing this pressure i.e. but the strangest point which raised my eyebrow  was that my address book of so called ‘Patients’ is mainly filled with the names of those parents who are indirectly being sliced by such ‘pressures’ of their wards!

Very rarely the youth themselves come to seek help or even try looking for help. Parents, act as their Saviours and frantically run from pillar to post seeking help for their wards.  Ironically these parents are not parents of young children but  of grown up youths, studying in  colleges  and pursuing most sought after trades! And the most unique phenomena to be noticed here is that many of these Parents in a way are responsible for the ‘frantic behaviours’ of their children as at the school level they have been often been pressurizing or rather traumatizing their wards to excel in their subjects-to bring more marks as compared to their friends. It is here where the Parents unknowingly become a fillip in triggering the much talked and discussed pressure-Peer Pressure which is continuously taking toll on the life of the youngsters because as they grow up it is not only in the field of  academics where they want to reign but their wants  deviates to fields like ‘owning the most sought after girlfriends/boyfriends, dresses, modern gadgets, cars etc !
But I would like to make a call to the youngsters to seek advice in case they suspect themselves being boiled in a hot soup! In fact many times the youth very well know that they need professional and medical help/guidance to overcome their difficulties and here I want to enlighten them that the problems which seem so grievous at the moment to them can prove to be very trivial afterwards. But they often escape seeking medical/professional help as they fear being laughed at by their peers. I often see that the youth instead of becoming a support to their aged parents are becoming a burden on them and seek help! To many this can seem that the youngsters are becoming heartless/careless. But the crucial point here which goes unnoticed is that in the present day scenario, where pressure to excel in all and every field is increasing by leaps and bounds , the mind of these youth can face tough situations-so tough that sometimes they are not able to bear and fall prey to it ruining their lives.

Now let us see, what these pressures which generally drive the youngsters crazy are.

Everybody these days, especially the youth, face the pressure to 'fit in' in certain place in which they dwell and make turn heads. Young people often feel this pressure the most because they are continuously trying to find their place in this big world and the media targets a lot of messages at them. Friends can sometimes put pressure on young people too - pressure to talk, dress and act a certain way. So we see the Modern Pressures are non-ending!

We often, chide parents for not connecting with their children, without realizing that even the parents too are striving hard in today’s world to give best of all the two worlds to their children!

The cost of Education has risen manifold. To do M.B.A., even from a Government Institution requires the parents to shed a huge amount of ‘mullahs’! And the plight doesn’t stop here- admission is not everything! With admission begins a new path of journey for these youth laced with different kinds of wants. It’s not that they really want these  but want because their friends have them! Now this is what, I have been trying to come to-PEER PRESSURE!

I would here, instead of guiding or managing Parents and Teachers would aim my attention towards the youth. It is very important that we connect with them and be free to them guiding them, helping them to row their life-boats.

YOUNG AND THE YIN-YANG!

Now let us come to Chinese Philosophy acting as ‘healing power’- The Yin yang. Yin and Yang , according to Chinese belief, are not opposing forces (dualities), but complementary opposites that interact within a greater whole, as part of a dynamic system. Everything has both yin and yang aspects as light cannot exist without darkness and vice-versa, but either of these aspects may manifest more strongly in particular objects, and may ebb or flow over time.

So, I think the youth might have got, what I am trying to convey i.e. everything has its relevance in this world. With the good, the bad-with have, the have not and with luxuries, goals to be achieved dwells! So finally it is the youngsters who decide their fate. Pressures in various forms will be invading their minds but they have to know that for a successful life these pressures are essential and that they can never ever run away from such invading phenomena invading their lives! If taken positively these can help them to foster their personality!

For example, to grow into an adult, watching adult films is not necessary but everyone sees them somewhere in their lives and relish and I see no harm in it but when such kind of behaviours exceed the prescribed limit staining your personality, blocking your way, you have to decide the best for yourself and set limits for everything in life....Venturing out into a new world is a part of growing up but before putting your first step there, think twice because the mark of your foot made can not be easily erased... YOU ARE THE MASTERS OF THIS GAME CALLED LIFE-HENCE PLAY YOUR MOVES DEFTLY- SURGE AHEAD WITH A LIMITED AND RECOGNISED SPEED PAVING THE ROAD TO SUCCESS!
